Initial Consultation : The first session will be more structured than usual, including questions about what brings you to therapy, what you feel is wrong in your life, any symptoms you are experiencing, and your personal history. The purpose of this session is to start building a picture of your past and present relationships, important life events, and repeating patterns, feelings or emotions that cause you distress. By clarifying these factors your Therapy will be more effective and can be tailored to your needs. We will also look at your strengths, support needs, and goals for therapy.

Regular Therapy Sessions: Individual psychotherapy or counselling sessions are 60 minutes and we will have an agreed contract at a regular time and place,  usually on a weekly or fortnightly basis. For some clients with challenging mental health issues, complex trauma, or those seeking more intensive psychoanalytic psychotherapy and personal development, twice-weekly sessions (at a reduced rate) may be appropriate.

All therapy discussions we have, your personal details, and clinical notes are confidential and all client files are kept securely stored. To ensure my work with you remains as beneficial as possible I attend regular professional supervision with a Senior Therapist/Counsellor. If I discuss your situation with my supervisor anonymity is assured as I will not use identifying details. The only exception to maintaining confidentiality is if you were at risk of causing serious harm to yourself or others, or if you disclose that there is a serious risk of harm to you from someone else, in which case I am legally required to notify other agencies/services who can help. I would make all attempts to discuss this with you first in the rare occasion that this was necessary.
